Start by playing the latest version of v0.702. Then make sure you use the either the included save or start a Now Game. Don't use any old saves.

restarting with new game on your exact chapter helps to overcome those errors
I am totally new to this game. I've downloaded the original part 1, but the wording was a bit strange and all menus were written with katakanas.
Sorry if this was already answered a million times but is there any difference content-wise between the original and the Saikey translation?
I've found comments that said that the Saikey version does not have Sword Art Online references which is actually better for me as I don't know that franchise at all.
But other than that?

There is no different content between the versions. Saikey version allows you to rename the characters to avoid the SAO references. Also it is better optimized so there is less crashes. Also the gallery mod is made to use the Saikey version. Overall it is the better version.
The Saikey version does fix the recurring bug of "Now Game" that I believe Fujino is not fixing on purpose.
