Grimoire Noir is kinda worth reading.

Because you'll learn about some pretty fun stuff like how Nier truly doomed humanity when he tried to save Yonah

Or Kaine's tendency to masturbate after killing shades.

You'll get nothing from the Drakengard 3 spinoff though. Ignore that garbage.

You got a guide to on how to find the secret ending or does the game tell you how?

There are a total of 26 endings, from A-Z. Some of them are rather obvious(like not picking the right choice for progression), while others are hinted in the lore. I had to dig for some of them though(since I don't really game much I do miss out doing some stuff here and there).

But of all secret endings, ending Y was the best ending in the whole game. It made me tear as well.
But you could figure out how to get the secret ending by just playing the game and not having to resort to using a guide online right?

Is this game more accessible than MGR? I was able to finish MGR on Normal, but gave up when I had to fight Armstrong again in the DLC.

Why the fuck does Steam almost never get demos? PC needs demos more than any other platform, if you think about it.

Not at all. This is a Yoko Taro game before anything. And Yoko Taro has the tendency to add annoying gameplay features to his games out of sheer spite for the player.

Gameplay wise this should be more accessible than MGR. They've stated it'd be easier than the usual Platinum title. Though, this being a Yoko Taro game, anything is possible. The final boss of Drakengard 3 was a ridiculously hard rhythm game, so there may be some weird curveballs thrown at you

Yeah, there's a lot of shmup segments, so if you suck at those then you'll have a harder time. And the hacking game you'll use a lot later on is a top down twin-stick shooter.

I'm alright with shoot em ups. Level 8 in Gley Lancer, 292340 points in Thunder Force IV, final level in MUSHA. Like platformers, shoot em ups are simplistic and therefore very accessible. This Armstrong fight is inaccessible because I, frankly, don't know what the game wants me to do and when. The camera is also terrible. I don't like the combat system much. The battle drains me of patience before I can figure it out.

The tasteless bracelets and the dye in our hair
Or maybe, maybe it's our nowhere towns or our nothing places

The combat system itself is easier than MGR, since you have an evade instead of a parry, so the timing isn't as strict. You can also equip different software chips to suit your combat style.

Also there are no QTEs like MGR.

Well, I think I mentioned there are more than 1 secret endings with the S after the ending so I'm not sure what you mean by that.

I didn't use any guide online though. I had friends playing this game so I just ask them whenever I'm stuck.

Also, I don't really game much so don't use me as a yardstick. I think you should ask seasoned gamers instead if they could fish all secret endings(F-Z) by themselves or not without referring to any guides. .__.

Needed about 60 hours to complete the game on normal difficulty(I'm a scrub so sue me).

Also I'm not fast. People have managed to finish hard difficulty already way earlier than I do.

Download a massive game that you're not even sure you want over a little demo, play it for two hours and then wait three weeks for the money to return to your bank account. Doesn't seem very appealing. The beginning of the game might not even be as graphically intensive as the section in a demo, which could take place later.

Still not that big of an Issue, for me at least, You buy shit on PSN, play it for 2.5 seconds, you're fucked. You're not getting a refund. The only problem I see with this is if you have slow internet or have a small cap, but generally if you have slow internet or have a small cap you woulsn't be going around downloading 5-10gb files out of curiosity.

How accurate are the translations? I noticed the Steam version lists Japanese audio. I think I'd rather play it with the original audio and subs. I don't like the English voice for 9S. I noticed a few differences and sync issues when I watched the demo in Japanese with subs, but I could barely understand any of it.

Would be great if games had subs for the translated audio AND the original audio.

8-4 is taking liberties since Yoko Taro likes to use a lot of Japanese words and concepts that have no English equivalent.

Which isn't so bad. Their localization of Nier is fantastic and is even better than its Japanese version. Yoko Taro also said not to worry about localization differences "because my writing is pretty shitty anyways".

Nier and Drakengard flop financially and get mediocre scores critically.

Nier then gets branded for mobile gaming to save itself financially.
And Yoko Taro almost quits the gaming industry for a long list of financial failures.

But because of Nier's strong cult following, Platinum being huge fans of Nier, and Saito Yosuke threatening to quit Square if he didn't get to work on one more project with Taro: Square ends up GOING to Yoko Taro for another Nier game.

He gets one more chance and YET:
The game then goes on to get 1.5 stars on Amazon JP (which is really bad in Japan) in its first few days. Then after another weird chance of luck, the reception reverts, Automata is now at 4 stars on Amazon JP and has topped Japanese sales charts at 200k.

What an absolute madman.

So all that fanservice for 2B is because she won't be there anymore for you to see.
I mean, they even made sure her fleshy bits move in a proper manner, including the top of her thigh highs.

As someone else said, this was a labor of love.
But fucking hell, I really wanted to play with her more, I don't care about the other characters.
I'll be waiting for the PC release anyway.

#1 rule for any Yoko Taro game.

Never get attached to a character. Ever.
He's the type of person who will go out of his way to make a character likeable before offing said character in some horrible way just so he can bask in salty fan tears.

If it means bringing pain to fans, he'll do it. He almost implemented a boss fight where the fps would intentionally tank just to mess with the player in Automata.

Why does Platinum Games keep locking their PC games to 1920x1080 and 60 fps?

MGR did it too. I'm sure it will be modded in no time, but it would be nice if I didn't have to do that.

The same reason why fighting games are locked to 60 fps. Framedata with actions and all that. Variable frames in coding also take more work than locking your engine to an fps and just working around that.

I'm actually more bothered by the resolution cap. Originally, I was just gonna type 1920x1080. My monitor is only 60 Hz and I don't plan to get a higher refresh rate monitor, since newer games are hard enough to run in 2560x1440 at 60 fps. I don't even know what 120 Hz and 144 Hz look like.

The music being synchronized with the boss attacks/phases are +1

Although the music in Nier is better, the music and how it's used in Automata in tandem with the gameplay makes for a very dynamic feeling you hardly get from video games. I actually feel like I'm in theater.
